Alana 349 words open tag | "Being young, free stray is great and all. But when you think about it, you have no home, no one to fall back on, and in the end, you're just alone." - Alana |
The hills and great and all, but the young collie was more lonely than anything at this point in time. She didn't want to keep traveling, there was nothing more for her to hold on to. Step by step, her tiny, white paws scuffed along the abandon farming field. All that remained of it was the sandy bottoms where the corn used to grow. Now it was just abandoned, and somehow she felt like it symbolized her life. It was alone and no one cared about it. That was Alana. Alone, not a soul that knew her to care about what happened to her. Pausing, she turned her head and skimmed the field, it seemed to go on forever. By now, her white paws were coated with the dust of the field and there was nothing left for her to do. With a dramatic sigh, she flung herself onto her belly in the middle of the field.
Rolling onto her back, white stomach exposed, her bright blue eyes met the sky. It's fluffy white clouds seemed to dance and somehow, the two year old was amused by it. Her paws curled limply against her mid-frame and somehow she was in a new daze. Her own world. A world where she had a mate, pups, a family. People who cared about her, someone to cherish her existence. Quickly she shook her head and rolled onto her side. Snap out of it, Alana. Now you're just being dramatic, do you not remember what mother told you? Be the dog she would want you to be. That dog does not wallow in shame and make wishes on stars. But, Alana did, whether she wanted to admit it or not.
She spent her life wandering alone and hoping that one day something new would happen. But, a year had passed and she was still by herself with her moms scolding words always ringing in her ears. Rolling back onto her stomach, the collie let out a small whine, resting her head on her forelegs. Something will have to give, it just has to.
