Canine Company takes place in New York. 2014. The city that never sleeps is the nickname given to this huge bustling city. The humans and canines live side by side, almost never interacting. The strays' life is one of hardship and sometimes even death.

Canine gangs have formed, as well as a mafia, who plan to run the entire street life. Mistrust is floating around the streets and word on it states that someone from the mafia had killed an innocent pup for sheer pleasure of it. The mafia is denying this allagation saying it was some gang member. Acusations and wars have broken out. The mafia mistrusts the gangs and the gangs mistrust the mafia. Even the housepets are starting to like their taste of freedom.
